The first principle of the Ordinariate is then about Christian unity. St. Basil the Great, the Church’s greatest ecumenist, literally expended his life on the work of building bridges between orthodox brethren who shared a common faith, but who had become separated from one another in a Church badly fragmented by heresy and controversy. He taught that the work of Christian unity requires deliberate and ceaseless effort...St. Basil often talked with yearning about the archaia agape, the ancient love of the apostolic community, so rarely seen in the Church of his day. This love, he taught, is a visible sign that the Holy Spirit is indeed present and active, and it is absolutely essential for the health of the Church.

First Friday speaker at Mt. Calvary, Baltimore, Maryland - Postponed

Due to the poor driving conditions following the winter storm, the First Friday talk and devotions tonight are being cancelled. The next First Friday talk and devotions will be on Friday, February 7, 2014.

Msgr. Wadsworth of ICEL to speak at Mount Calvary, Baltimore - Friday, December 6th

Mount Calvary Welcomes Msgr. Andrew Wadsworth for a Special First Friday Lecture on Vatican II and the Liturgy

Mount Calvary Catholic Church, Baltimore's Ordinariate parish, continues its new monthly First Friday Series on Friday, Dec. 6. Adoration and Confessions will begin at 5:30 pm, followed by Devotions and Benediction in the Anglican Use at 6:30 pm. The First Friday supper and lecture will follow immediately after Benediction at 7:00 pm. Msgr Wadsworth will be giving a talk on Vatican II and the sacred liturgy, entitled “Sacrosanctum Concilium: What We Have Done, and What We Have Failed To Do.” 

Msgr. Wadsworth is Moderator of The Community of St. Philip Neri, a community-in-formation for the Oratory at the Church of St. Thomas the Apostle in Washington, D.C., and is the Executive Director of the International Commission on English in the Liturgy (ICEL). Mount Calvary, long known for its Anglo-Catholic traditions and liturgy, entered the Catholic Church in January, 2012 as the first parish of the Personal Ordinariate of the Chair of St. Peter. First Friday Series at Mount Calvary, Baltimore continues on All Saints Day

Mount Calvary Catholic Church, Baltimore's first Ordinariate parish, continues its new monthly First Friday Series on November 1, as part of a special All Saints Day celebration. Confessions will be heard from 6:30 pm, and Solemn High Mass in the Anglican Use to follow at 7:00 pm. Fr. James Junípero Moore, O.P., our First Friday guest speaker, will preach the homily. The First Friday supper and lecture will follow immediately after Mass. Fr. Moore will be giving a talk on sacred music, entitled “Praise You Who Hath Taught You to Sing of His Love: Sacred Music & the New Evangelization.”  Fr. Moore earned degrees in music at Santa Clara University and the University of Notre Dame, and entered the Dominican novitiate in the Western province in 2000. Fr. James Bradley to speak at Mount Calvary, Baltimore

Mount Calvary's First Fridays series continues on Oct. 4. Please join us for Adoration, Benediction, supper, and a special talk by Fr. James Bradley of the Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham, The Anglican Use in Great Britain, entitled, "The Rock From Which You Were Hewn: the Foundation and Development of the Personal Ordinariate in the United Kingdom." 

Fr. Bradley was ordained as a priest for the Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham by Bishop Alan Hopes, at St Patrick’s, Soho Square, and has served as Communications Officer for the Personal Ordinariate and as Private Secretary to the Ordinary, Msgr Keith Newton. Currently living in Washington, D.C., where he is studying for a Licentiate in Canon Law at the Catholic University of America.
