The first principle of the Ordinariate is then about Christian unity. St. Basil the Great, the Church’s greatest ecumenist, literally expended his life on the work of building bridges between orthodox brethren who shared a common faith, but who had become separated from one another in a Church badly fragmented by heresy and controversy. He taught that the work of Christian unity requires deliberate and ceaseless effort...St. Basil often talked with yearning about the archaia agape, the ancient love of the apostolic community, so rarely seen in the Church of his day. This love, he taught, is a visible sign that the Holy Spirit is indeed present and active, and it is absolutely essential for the health of the Church.

RIP: Fr. David Noble

Please pray for the repose of the soul of FATHER DAVID NOBLE
who passed away at 7:30 PM February 24, 2011.
Please also pray for FATHER BRUCE NOBLE,
his beloved twin brother, who was at his bedside.

O God, Thou didst raise Thy servant, FATHER DAVID NOBLE, to the sacred priesthood of Jesus Christ, according to the Order of Melchisedech, giving him the sublime power to offer the Eternal Sacrifice, to bring the Body and Blood of Thy Son Jesus Christ down upon the altar, and to absolve the sins of men in Thine own Holy Name. We beseech Thee to reward his faithfulness and to forget his faults, admitting him speedily into Thy Holy Presence, there to enjoy forever the recompense of his labors. This we ask through Jesus Christ Thy Son, our Lord. Amen.

Father of mercies and God of all consolation, You pursue us with untiring love and dispel the shadow of death with the bright dawn of light.
Comfort FATHER BRUCE in his loss and sorrow.
Be his refuge and his strength, O Lord, and lift him from the depths of grief into the peace and light of Your Presence. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Eternal rest, grant unto FR. DAVID, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him.
May he rest in peace. Amen.

Fr. Noble's funeral scheduled for 10 AM on Tuesday, March 1 at Our Lady of Walsingham.
Daniel Cardinal DiNardo will be presiding.
